The building is composed by one podium with 6 residential blocks on top of it. They are aligned on two separated rows and in between is placed a green area with the playground and a glazed pergola. Underground level holds storage rooms and parking lots. Ground floor  is divided by a promenade (Miljøgate) in two parts: facility area and parking area.

Miljøgate.

This walking passage is a reminiscence of Melhus’ urban

pattern and connects the project directly to the city centre. Here the concrete walls follow the organic lines of walking routes. Opening and entrances are the result of a natural process of moving discovering the place. Curved planes change light and shadows perception. creating interesting perspectives, different at every step.

Galleries

Residential blocks are set on two lines. Each line is subdivided in three blocks. Each block is separated by the volume that hosts the staircases. Block A, D, E and F have apartment entrances from the gallery. The living areas have a privileged solar illumination from south/east. On the gallery are placed small places for socialization for each apartment right outside the entrance, they can count on a good illumination from the west for a good part of the daytime. Here is possible to find a bench or a table and meet guests and neighbours. The gallery has a system of vertical wooden battens to protect the privacy of the inhabitants.

Terraces

On the edge of the building are situated the terraces that offer the best view on the beautiful natural landscape of the surrounding.

Materials

The walls on the ground floor are covered with perforated metal panels. On the facility side, a wide glazed surface opens to the city. Residences instead are characterized by the use of a horizontal cladding, in three different linings: dark grey, chestnut and natural wood. The facades are articulated in “boxes”. Frames that hosts the balconies stick in and out creating movement in plan and elevation. Another distinctive element of variation are the entrance doors in gallery painted in three different colours.
